“When that happens, it’s not a good outcome. ![]() “They outwrestled us, out-toughed us, won every close match,” Blue Eagles coach Dave Crowell said. Nazareth is hoping it will move on and move forward from its performance and last weekend’s Cumberland Valley Kickoff Classic. ![]() An MRI revealed the same cartilage damage as the right one, so he’ll have that procedure done Tuesday and hopes to be back in time for January. ![]() Geiger’s left knee felt good enough until it flared up late in the football season. “I figured that I’ve got one match, maybe wrestle this weekend the Boyertown tournament, so I might as well make it worth it.” Clinging to a 3-2 lead, the Red Rover picked up two takedowns in the final 40 seconds to win 7-4. Geiger’s season debut came against returning Northeast Regional sixth-place finisher Cade Campbell. But he felt his team was best served with him competing against Nazareth, so he pushed the surgery back a week. The 160-pounder didn’t compete in last weekend’s tournament, in which Easton finished third in the team standings. Geiger had knee surgery last month and was prepped to have the other one cleaned up, but it would keep him from competing in Thursday’s match. The Red Rovers pushed their cushion to 22-6 after freshman Ethan Krazer rallied from a 3-0 deficit with a reversal late in the second period, another reversal with 52 seconds left and then rode out Blue Eagles freshman Cooper Wenrich for a 4-3 win at 121. The Blue Eagles only got as close as 8-6 after two-time state champion Sean Kinney’s 17-second pin at 285 in the third bout. Nazareth never gave up, but Easton never trailed. Linegar not only stood his ground, he made his second-period reversal hold up in a 2-1 win. It took another leap forward after Linegar beat returning state qualifier Brayden Zuercher, who Nazareth bumped up to get him on Linegar in the night’s first bout. He competed a JV schedule last year in the 139-145 range. ![]() Linegar’s last dual meet was at 132 pounds on Feb. “I thought it would be better for me and the team, having the freshman going against lighter kids.” “I made the decision to go up to 189,” Linegar said. Linegar made a mature, team-first decision after that talk. Linegar’s determination to stick with the sport was followed up with a conversation less than two months ago with Easton freshman Justin Cosover. Many of those steps forward were taken long ago.
